Hot Springs - Pai, Thailand | ||

Hot springs sign (96k) A pleasant 300-meter hike from parking
lot to the hot springs. |
Small stream (118k) As we walked along this small stream it
grew increasingly warm; bathers could be seen enjoying the natural spas. |
80°C water (99k) According to this sign the water temperature was 80° celcius (that's 176° farenheit) |
Posing by sign (98k) We wanted to remember what the sign said,
otherwise by now we might be telling stories claiming 200 degree water! |
Bubbling water (93k) The water here is bubbling visibly, and
the sulfur smell is present in the air. The bubbling is NOT because
the water is at boiling temperature, but because of the warm gas escaping. |
Why not? (84k) It's common practice to boil eggs by lowering
them into the near-boiling water for a few minutes, retreiving them
from your basket and then eating them. Apparently they frown on that
behavior here. |
